Back to Barcelona

Captain’s Log, June 6th: Ah well, all good things have to come to an end. We are back in Barcelona, and the passengers have departed for the airport, so all is peaceful.
We would be starting a new cruise tomorrow, but on the approach to Barcelona, the faulty engine lost power altogether, so we were brought in by tugs. Mrs Negibi was furious about the cost of this, and has insisted that the Chief Engineer be dismissed. It was sad to see him go, but I have to admit that he is to blame for this whole fiasco with the engines.
So the next scheduled cruise has been cancelled. The good news is that the crew have a week or so to relax, while the engine is repaired and a new Chief Engineer appointed. Of course, most have to stay on the ship, due to visa requirements, and most of them will not be paid during this period, as they will not be carrying out regular duties. At least they can enjoy the view of the sea from the upper decks, albeit obscured a little by the dock buildings.
My log will resume at the start of the next voyage.
